Hearts gear up for Super Cup

THE head coach of Accra Hearts of Oak, Cecil Jones Attuquayefio, has said the technical bench will leave no stone unturned in the club’s effort to win the champion of champions cup against Zamalek of Egypt on Sunday.

In this connection, he said the team have intensified training and have outlined friendly encounters as part of efforts to tune the players up.

Speaking in an interview, Coach Attuquayefio said Hearts would play against Obuasi Goldfields tomorrow at the Len Clay Stadium, and host Neoplan Stars and Ayigya White Eagles at the Kumasi Stadium on Wednesday.

He said on Thursday, Hearts would play against Ebo Mends’ Kapital Sports to detemine the final level of preparedness to meet the Egyptian side.

Touching on the absence of such stalwarts as Ishmael Addo, Coach Attuquayefio said Ishmael Addo and Sammy Adjei will certainly join the team.

He said Ishmael was absent from camp because he was working on his visa to travel to Turkey while Sammy Adjei was in Portugal.

Meanwhile, the management of Hearts has rendered an unqualified apology to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for the team’s inability to pay a courtesy call on him as scheduled due to unforeseen circumstances. The management also apologised to the club’s supporters for failure to exhibit the cup they won as newly crowned Africa continental masters.

Mr Harry Zakkour said arrangements have been made to pay the courtesy call on the Asantehene on Wednesday and exhibit the cup as programmed.
