Hearts clear the air

Accra, Sept 26, GNA The Management of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club has stated that the intended demonstration by the National Chapters Committee (NCC) has nothing to do with government of Ghana and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Addressing a press conference in Accra on Friday, Mr. Randy Abbey, Public Relation Officer of the club said the demonstration is being organised by the supporters section of the club against the ineptitude of the officials of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and its affiliate structures.

He said the demonstration is basically against the selective justice being pursued by the GFA and referred to instances where the FA acted swiftly to punish Hearts after the 18th Week League match against Kotoko, while other cases are still pending without any attention. Mr Abbey said there is no equity in the dispensation of justice by the FA and its bodies such as the Disciplinary Committee, Referees Appointments Committee.

"The FA and its affiliates have shown plain disregard for laid down rules and this is what our supporters are demonstrating against and not the government and the NPP," Mr Abbey said.

He said the club has no evidence of the involvement of political influence to twist the arms of Hearts and will fight it when they have such evidences at hand.

Mr Abbey said, "Hearts is not an appendage of any political party in Ghana as the club was formed so many years before the emergence of any political party". The PRO said the supp orters had the backing of the management to embark on the demonstration because they are fully aware that it has no political motive.
In a related development, Mr. Tommy Okine, Chief Executive of the Club has added his voice to that of the PRO in a press statement. He described he allegation as "a misreportage in the news story on the demonstration".
He said the NCC has confirmed the misreportage and added that the demonstration was to protest against maltreatment by the bodies connected to the GFA.
