Hearts clarify stand on Taylor saga

Accra, July 21, GNA- Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club has stated that the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) never stated that player Charles Taylor becomes a floating player or free agent as declared by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

In a statement signed by Mr. Ernest Thompson Board Secretary of the club, following the declaration by the GFA, Hearts sought to seek further clarification from FIFA through the assistance of Mr. Sannie Ibrahim a Sports Journalist which revealed that "at no point in time did FIFA ever advised that a compensation should be paid and then the player be free".

The statement said the view of FIFA adds to their position that proper interpretations should be given to the FIFA rules that payment of compensation for the specific offence of a breach contract does not amount to transfer fee so as to make the player a floating player.

According to the statement the position of the club is further buttressed by article 22 of the FIFA rules, which states clearly that payment of compensation should not be without prejudice to payment of transfer fees.

The statement further said the player has unlawfully and illegally started training with Kumasi Asante Kotoko an act which, still amounts to a recurrent breach of the contract.
