Hearts Agyemang files for floating status

Accra, Feb 25, GNA - Louis Agyemang, Accra Hearts of Oak's striker has applied for a floating status from the Status Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The players' request comes four days after he had received a letter of caution from the management of the Club ordering him to resume training or face sanctions, following his long absence at training. Agyemang has therefore been invited to appear before the Committee on Thursday, March 3, at the secretariat of the GFA.

The players' request for a floating status is likely to fuel the already rising controversy over his status, as he claims his contract with the Club is over whilst Hearts insists they have a contract with him that is valid till June 2005.

Agyemang has for the past weeks been the centre of controversy after his departure for trials in Germany, but on his return, the player is yet to report for training, hence making himself unavailable for club assignments.

The player's absence at training follows his request for an extension of the contract and is reported to be demanding an amount of 150 million cedis for the extension, whilst Hearts offered him 100 million cedis. The Hearts player would be appearing before the Committee alongside, Abubakari Kankani, a former keeper of AshantiGold, Peter Anyrato of Okwawu United, Inusah Mohammed and Richard Opoku Afriyie of Sekondi Hassacas, Isaac Lartey of Liberty Professionals, Emmanuel Nanyi - Heart of Lions and Joe Agyemang Jr of King Faisal.

The rest are Ahmed Muhideen of B.A. United, Benjamin Teiko - Midtjyiland, Jacob Mensah and Aziz Yawson of Gt. Mariners and Kwabena Agyemang of Sparks F/C.
