Goran, Kevin Need To Put Egos Aside - Nyantakyi

The President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwasi Nyantakyi has asked for Black Stars head coach Goran Stevanovic and AC Milan midfielder Kevin Prince Boateng to put their egos aside in the interest of the nation.

In an exclusive interview with footyghana.com, Nyantakyi revealed that Stevanovic is upset with Boateng for a variety of reasons. He said, ‘Goran was not happy with Kevin’s performance against Congo and his inability to join the team for the South Korea friendly. He called Kevin sometime ago and after two attempts, Kevin was reached, after which he told the coach that he was going for training and that he would get back to him, but he didn’t call the coach back. Goran was upset and at the moment, he doesn’t want to see the player.’

Nyantakyi also told footyghana.com that when Stevanovic presented the squad for the Swaziland and Brazil games, Boateng’s name was indeed missing, thus confirming media reports that he had been dropped.

He says, ‘After receiving the list, I have been talking to Goran to try to convince him to include Kevin, but he is remaining adamant, but I will speak with him again. You see, I am looking at the bigger picture; what the boy can do to help the Black Stars. I don’t believe that one bad game is enough to rule him out. So Goran and Kevin have to put their egos and differences aside for the nation’s benefit.’

Nyantakyi also revealed that he has sent text messages to Stevanovic and Boateng in a bid to settle outstanding issues between them.
