Goldfields to lose 12 points

Obuasi Goldfields are to lose 12 points and not 16 points as being rumoured in town, a source at the Ghana Football Association told the GNA Sports in Accra on Friday.

The miners lost two protests filed against them by Real Tamale United and Accra Great Olympics for fielding Cameroonian import Valentine Attem who played against them without work permit.

Although Goldfields trounced Olympics 3-1 and hammered RTU 5-0 in their seventh and 12 weeks matches respectively, they would have to forfeit those six points plus six other points from their accumulated points, according to the GFA regulation.

The appeals committee will come out with the full report on Monday to set the records straight.

The Professional League Board is however unaware of any ruling and as such, has not altered the 16-club league table.
