Ghana to assess Asamoah's fitness

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah says he hopes Kwadwo Asamoah can overcome any injury worries ahead of their 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Malawi.

The Juventus midfielder is somewhat of a doubt for Ghana's game in Lilongwe on Saturday after limping in training.

But Appiah hopes that Asamoah can shake off the knock he picked up in training as he expects to check up on the player on Friday before making a decision.

"The only problem I am facing is Kwadwo Asamoah," the Ghana coach said as the Black Stars rounded up their preparations in Kenya on Thursday.

"He's been limping a little bit but I will assess him when we get to Malawi but for now everyone is fine and prepared for game."

Ghana lead Malawi 2-0 going into the second leg clash as the aggregate winner will qualify for next year’s finals in South Africa.
