"Ghana is a big threat"- Canadian coach

Hangzou, China, Sept 14, GNA - Evan Pellerud, coach of the Canadian Women's soccer team has described Ghana as a major threat ahead of their Group C meeting at the Hangzou Dragon Stadium on Saturday. The coach told GNA Sports on Friday in Hangzou that "Ghana is a major threat and it is our intention to play aggressively tomorrow." Pellerud, who is revered as the most successful Canadian trainer said his side would come out with full aggression in their quest to post a win over the West Africans.

Even though the Black Queens managed to convert only one of the various chances created in their 1-4 loss to Australia last week, the coach described the Ghanaian team as a skilful one that possess great danger to their dream of progressing in the group that includes Norway and Australia.

"Ghana is very skilful and very fast on the ball. "They can excellently possess the ball and can be very tricky upfront." He added.

Both teams have met only once and drew one all during the meeting in 2003.

The North Americans, according to the coach would approach the game with the intension of neutralizing the Queens mid-field built around gifted Adjoa Bayor and petit, Florence Okeo. Pellerud, ranked tenth in the world by the Federation of International Football Association earlier in the year rated the Ghanaians as tactically good and a force to reckon with. He was in charge when Canada emerged fourth at the last edition of the competition held in the USA in 2003.
