Ghana handed tough AFCON draw

Ghana find themselves in a group of death as they have been paired with Algeria, South Africa and Senegal in Group C at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Black Stars’ opening game is against Senegal under new coach Avram Grant who took office on December 1, 2014.

The Israeli is new to the African terrain but certainly has enough talent at his exposure for the team to live up to their ‘favourites’ tag in Equatorial Guinea. The tournament will be staged from January 17 to February 8, 2015.

Ghana's team will be based in Mongomo with Bata, Ebibeyin and Malabo hosting the other group games. The opening game will be in Equatorial Guinea v Congo on 17 January.

Below is the 2015 Afcon group:

Group A: Equatorial Guinea, Burkina Faso, Gabon, Congo

Group B: Zambia, Tunisia, Cape Verde, DR Congo

Group C: Ghana, Algeria, South Africa, Senegal

Group D: Ivory Coast, Mali, Cameroon, Guinea
