Ghana U20 Ladies ready For Namibia Test

Ghana Under-20 women’s team coach Robert Sackey insists his team is not under pressure ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Namibia. The Black Princesses will join the African qualifying campaign this weekend on 19 February when they host their Southern Africa opponents.

The team will step up preparations for the game with a friendly against an Accra select side on Thursday at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence. After the Black Queens and the Maidens progressed to their respective qualifying campaign, many believe the Princesses will be under some sort of pressure to emulate them.

But coach Sackey insists he is on top of his game.

“We’re preparing feverishly for the game and surely such encounters are very crucial,” Sackey said “There is no pressure at all. We know our two other female national teams won their opening respective campaign and so we should also do the same.

“I believe there is a crop of quality players at our disposal and we’ll do our best. The return leg has been fixed on the weekend of 2-4 March. Africa has got two slots for the 2012 World Cup in Uzbekistan from 18 August- 09 September.
