German Embassy presents sports equipment to Twifo United

Twifo Praso, (C/R) April 21, GNA - The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany on Thursday presented sports equipment worth 10 million cedis to the Twifo United Football Club at a ceremony at Twifo-Praso. The items made up of a set of jerseys and socks, eight footballs and a pump, 17 training singlets, two first aid kits, a whistle, a posts net as well as a stop watch were jointly presented by Ms Annette Turman and Ms Ruth Mensah, Country Director and Public Relations Officer of the Embassy respectively.

The donation was in response to an appeal made by the Twifo Hemang-Lower-Denkyira District Assembly to the Embassy. Ms Mensah advised the players to take their training seriously adding that the Embassy wished that they achieved laurels in their endeavours. The Club's Chairman, Mr Samuel Ato Amoah thanked the Embassy for its gesture and hoped it would continue to assist the Club to gain promotion to the elite division.

Mr Samuel Agyeibie Kessie, the District Chief Executive also expressed gratitude for the donation and said it was the aim of the Assembly to use sports development as a means of helping to alleviate poverty in the area.

He therefore appealed to philanthropists and corporate bodies to come to the aid of the Club to make in-roads in the various football divisions.
