Ga DCE wants more soccer clubs

Amasaman (G/A), Aug. 25, GNA - Mr Samuel Nii Aryeetey Attoh, Ga District Chief Executive on Sunday called on sports enthusiasts and philanthropists of the district to form more football clubs to enable them to utilise the Olympic Stadium, which has been earmarked for the district.

Mr Aryeetey was addressing more than 20 football clubs from Pokuase, Amasaman and Abenease after the teams had participated in a series of friendly matches to select a formidable side to represent the district in the national soccer leagues.

He said the Ga District Assembly is ready to assist any team that strives to reach the national level and hoped that the District's Juvenile Association would take the opportunity to enjoy the facilities and boost their moral.

Mr Godfred Mensah Saah the Ga District Secretary of the Juvenile Football Association pledged to do whatever he can to raise the standard of the game in the area and unearth talented players.

Mr Joseph Adjoteye, Patron of the Juvenile Association also promised to assist the teams with footballs, jerseys and first aid boxes.

Pokuase won the football competition with nine points followed by Amasaman with eight points while Abenease came third with seven points.
