Former football laid to rest

Cape Coast, March 2 GNA - The mortal remains of Francis Macauley, a former member of Gold Coast XI was laid to rest at the Asokyeano cemetery near Cape Coast on Saturday. The late Macauley 82, during his hey days also featured for Cape Coast Venomous Vipers. He died in November 2008 after a protracted illness. Alex Arthur, a former player of Ebusua Dwarfs and now team manager of Dwarfs in a tribute, described the late Macauley as a great footballer who contributed immensely to the promotion of soccer in the country. Among those at the burial were Mr Ben Koufie, former GFA chairman, Mr Edward Acquah, Reverends Kofi Pare and Osei Kofi and the Paha brothers, all former members of the Black Stars. Also in attendance were old players of Dwarfs and Vipers.
