Former Black Stars pay tribute

FORMER GHANA striker Tony Yeboah and the Ghanaian FA chairman designate Abedi Pele have laid wreaths at the site of the Accra Stadium tragedy.

The ceremony was performed on behalf of all Ghana's overseas-based players but also among those present were Bayern Munich's Samuel Osei Kuffour of Bayern Munich, who led the way with a short prayer before a minute's silence was observed for the departed.

Yeboah accompanied by Kuffour then laid the first wreath followed by Abedi Pele and C.K. Akonnor.

From there, the players moved on to make a donation to the government's May 9 Accra sports stadium disaster fund.

Yeboah, on behalf of the foreign-based players, presented a sum of $US 5,700 to the Chief of Staff, Mr Jake Obestebi Lamptey.
