Dusseldorf, June 12, GNA - The first batch of Ghanaian supporters caused a stir and excitement on arrival at the Dusseldorf Airport en-route to Bochum, where they will pitch camp to support the national football team the Black Stars in their maiden World Cup. The over 100 supporters, who are members of the Ghana National Supporters Union were clad in Ghanaian flags and Areeba special hats, as they sang and danced to their own brand of music that attracted most people at Frankfurt and Dusseldorf airports, who moved closer to witness their artistry and gigs.

Mostly among the curious, enthusiastic travellers were ladies who joined with their own form dancing and took many pictures with the group. Most of them also requested to be given Ghanaian flags and hats. The group included subscribers of Areeba, Club officials, some Members of Parliament, and other government officials. From the Frankfurt and Dusseldorf airports, only a few blacks were on sight but the World Cup fever had caught up with the residents who had adorned their houses and cars with flags of various participating countries, with German flag dominating.

The supporters went through a hectic travel regimen from Accra to Frankfurt and had to wait for another three hours at Dusseldorf airport before they were booked into hotels in Bochum.

Among the entourage were the former Ashanti Regional Minister and now Minister for Chieftaincy and Culture, Mr S.K. Boafo, Mr Ahmed Ramadan, Administrative Director of Areeba, Jones Abu-Alhassan and Alhaji Adam Munkaila of Real Tamale United.

Leaders of the Supporters included the Vice President of the Union, Mr Edmund Ackah, the national co-ordinator, Aziz Harruna Futah, leader of the drummers, Joseph Lankabeh and head of the vocalists, Abdulai Ibrahim.

They were scheduled to visit the camp of the Black Stars and proceed to Hanover for the Black Stars opening match against Italy on Monday. 12 June 06
