First Sekondi-Takoradi Under-12 Gala to kick off on August 13

Inchaban, (W/R) Aug. 8, GNA - A sports journalist with Skyy Group of Companies, Mr Kuntu Blankson has initiated an annual Under-12 football gala for participants drwn from the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.

He said the first competition would kick off in the Sekondi zone on August 13 this year with the next gala taking place in the Takoradi zone on August 20.

Mr Blankson announced this at a ceremony to unveil the trophies and medals for the gala competition at Inchaban near Takoradi on Saturday. He said a Ghanaian football fan resident in Italy donated the trophies and medals estimated at 40,000 Ghana Cedis to encourage and whip up the interst of the youth in colts football in the Metropolis. The radio presenter said about 27 players would be selected during the tournament to form an Under-12 team to represent the Metropolis. Mr Blankson said plans are afoot to get a competent coach to help train the team and assist groom the players into future stars. 08 August 11
