Feyenoord appeals for security

Cape coast, Oct 11, GNA- The Management of Feyenoord Football Academy on Thursday appealed to the division one league board, to ensure that adequate security and special observers are provided for their 12th week league match against Sekondi Eleven Wise at the Gyandu park on Sunday October 12.

A statement signed by Mr Ofori Amoafo assistant secretary of the club, said the request has become necessary in view of the incident which resulted in the abrupt end of their first round 5th week match against Wise at Gomoa Fetteh.

It said the provision of security would forestall any "unwarranted attacks" on the team and save the lives of both player and club officials.

It would be recalled that during their first round league encounter, Wise allegedly assaulted match officials and caused the abrupt end of the match and were declared losers as a punitive measure. They were also fined 10 million cedis and lost three points from their accumulated points as further punishment, while their goalkeeper, Tetteh Engmann, had a 12-month ban slapped on him for assault.
