Faisal fined over licence claims

THE GHANA FA has upheld the protest of Bofoakwa Tano against King Faisal for fielding an ineligible player during their match in April.

The FA disciplinary committee has accepted the protest of Bofoakwa and has declared them as winners of the match, which ended 2-2, effectively meaning that King Faisal have been docked a point for their transgression.

In addition to being declared winners of the match which was held at the Sunyani Stadium on April 22, Bofoakwa have also been granted three goals.

On the other side of the coin, Faisal have also been fined $US 400, to be paid to the GFA within 14 days.

The findings of the committee, among others, were that the player in question, Samuel Thompson, was playing under an expired licence as his contract was not renewed with Faisal before the game in question.

A number of other irregularities were discovered regarding the player’s licence which meant that it was declared invalid.
