FC Nania in semis in India

FC Nania beats Vasco in semis of E K Nayanar Memorial International

Kannur, April 11: Continuing their winning streak, Abedi Pele's FC Nania, Ghana defeated Vasco, Goa 2-1 to ensure themselves a berth in the semi-finals of the E K Nayanar Memorial International Football tournament Tuesday night.

In a lively match at the flood-lit Jawahar Stadium, Ghana team struck first goal in the 13th minute through a bullet shot by Captain Addy Khalil from about 20 metres off the goal mouth as Vasco keeper remained clueless.

The Ghanian team struck another blow in the very first minute of the second session with another goal coming from Babamu Yusif.

The match generated excitement as the Vasco team, which till then remained goalless, started spiting fire with attacking shots, precise passes and accurate defences.

They managed to score the solitary goal against the visiting team through substitute Rehman Cardozo on the 86th minute, but it was too late to grab an equaliser.

In today’s league match, Vasco would clash with SBT.
