FA In-Fighting Must Cease

Mr. Ransford Antwi, a football enthusiast has called on the leadership of the Ghana Football Association not to do anything that will wash away the massive achievements it has chalked over the last few weeks, following Ghana Black Stars? outing at the just-ended Mundial.

In a release, Mr.Antwi expressed sadness following reports of in- fighting among some officials of the FA as a result of Ghana?s participation at the just-ended 2006 World Cup in Germany. According to him, the entire FA fraternity should be proud of their achievements chalked so far, and warned that this is not the time for witch-hunting, but an opportunity to take stock, in a bid to improving upon their very remarkable achievements.

?Of course, one expects some amount of stock-taking but the sort of signal being witnessed is a bit worrying, and I urge the leadership to close its ranks and strive to push Ghana soccer to where it truly belongs in the World Soccer Map?, he emphasised. We have a lot to do as a country in building upon what we did in Germany, if we don?t want to end up like our African brothers Cameroun, Senegal, Nigeria, who impressed at the same World Cup but have failed to build upon their World Cup successes.

Mr.Antwi also reserved special commendation for FA?s Media Officer at the Mundial, Randy Abbey who he believes handled his position with distinction. According to him, the way John Pintail?s flag-raising issue was handled by Randy was exceptional, coupled with his self confidence in the manner he handled a job he was doing for the first time makes him a very special person.
