Essien empathises with injured Akaminko

Ghana midfielder Michael Essien has consoled teammate Jerry Akaminko, who has been ruled out of the World Cup due to injury.

Akaminko was stretchered off late in Saturday’s friendly against the Netherlands after landing awkwardly from an aerial challenge.

Ghana’s doctors confirmed he fractured his ankle and will not be available to make the final 23-man squad to Brazil.

Essien, who missed the last World Cup in South Africa, empathized with the Eskisehirspor player.

“Very sad about Jerry’s injury.Get well soon. We are with you. Stay strong bro!!!,” Essien posted on his official Twitter page.

Akaminko has travelled to the USA with the Black Stars squad and is set to undergo surgery.
