Essien back to action on Monday

Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien could be fit for Monday's FA Cup quarter-final replay at Tottenham.

The Ghanaian international injured his knee during Chelsea's dramatic fight back from 3-1 down against Spurs to level 3-3 in the first match between the two sides.

But Mourinho is confident his powerful midfielder will be available for selection ahead of the match he believes his side can now win.

He said: "There is a chance for Essien.

"We have a replay but that first match was like a victory for us.

"I am confident because the team is fighting hard. I think against Tottenham we were out of the FA Cup at half-time. Nobody believed we could still be in, only us.

"We fought very hard to get back and deserve this second game at White Hart Lane.

"We are not stupid people, we know it will be a difficult game against difficult opponents. But we firmly believe we are going to win this game and have one more chance to be in the final."

German captain Michael Ballack explained how Mourinho shook the players up at half-time in the match against Tottenham.

"For the fans it's fantastic when it's 3-3 or 4-3 but we made a lot of mistakes and our coach was not happy."

Ballack was also quick to point out the danger Dimitar Berbatov will pose for Chelsea.

"At the moment I think he is very dangerous. He is very relaxed on the ball, he keeps his cool in every situation on the pitch and that is a great point for him.

"I thought he would be a success in England...he has a great future. Tottenham are playing very well, very strong and are scoring a lot of goals. So we will wait for another big game on Monday."
