El Shortah reject Baghdad FC offer for Poku

El-Shortah have turned down a fresh offer tabled by Iraqi giants Baghdad FC for former Ghana Premier League top scorer Nana Poku.

The 23-year-old former Berekum Arsenal and Berekum Chelsea player was on the verge of joining Baghdad in the Iraqi Premier League last January but initial talks between both sides failed to come to fruition.

Goal understands that the Iraqi side has improved their offer but Al-Shortah seem unwilling to release the striker, offering him a two-year contract extension instead.

Poku won the Ghana Premier League top scorer award in 2011 with 16 goals and helped Berekum Chelsea to clinch their first-ever league title. He has however scored only three league goals this season with the Egyptian club after 20 games.

Ittihad El-Shortah currently lie 12th with 27 points in a 20-team league.
