Eguavoen submits list for Ghana friendly

Super Eagles Chief Coach Austin Eguavoen has submitted to the NFA a list of players expected to play Ghana next month,

The friendly international between the West African traditional rivals holds in London on February 6.

Speaking on the impending encounter as well as the March 2007 Nations Cup date with Uganda, Eguavoen expressed happiness that the NFA have saddled him with the responsibility of compiling the list of the players.

"For the FA to call me to submit the list for the February 6 friendly against Ghana, this simply shows that I still remain the head coach of the Super Eagles which I am happy about. This means I am still on and I am still the head coach. We only brought somebody (Vogts) to guide us with his experience," he disclosed.

The coach fondly called Cerezo in his playing days, confirmed that he had already submitted the list of players that will prosecute the friendly tie against the Black Stars of Ghana to the NFA.

"I have submitted the list, but there are one or two hiccups somewhere that need to be cleared. So by Monday, I think they will make the list available."

Eguavoen however, stated that the coaching crew will not experiment with the list. He disclosed that one or two surprise names may be included.

He also disclosed his wish to extend Nigeria's lead in Group Three from six points to an unassailable nine points against Uganda, a reason for taking the Ghana friendly very important.

"I expect a tough match against Ghana because of the rivalry between the two countries and the quality of players in both teams. The match will also pull a big crowd," .
