Edu Kofi threatens to play for Denmark

Ghana’s 2007 Under-17 World Cup semi-finalist Enoch Edu Kofi has issued a warning to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and head coach of the Black Stars to invite him to play for the Black Stars or else he will switch his nationality to represent the Danish national senior side.

The FC Nordjaesland midfielder, who helped his team to win the 2011-2012 Danish super league, made these open remarks when he spoke to his team’s website last week.

According to the player, he has been approached by the Danish football association to play for the Danes, but he is first waiting to be called upon by the GFA before he responds to the call from the Scandinavian country.

There were rumours that officials from the Denmark football association had approached the 21-year-old midfielder to play for the Danish national team due to his failure to make it in the national team of his country of birth.

But the player has remained silent over the allegation. Although the player has refused to comment on it, information available to Finder Sports has it that the Danish Football Association is eager to get the player’s nationality switch completed before the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

This news comes as a wake-up call to the Ghana Football Association and Coach Akwasi Appiah to grant the in-form player his first call-up to play for the Black Stars.

The former Liberty Professionals and OG Nice player is optimistic about playing for the Black Stars, but can change his decision to play for the Danes if the FA consistently fails to call him to play for Ghana.
