Desailly expects some new faces in Ghana’s 2015 AFCON squad

Former France Captain Marcel Desailly believes Ghana Coach Avram Grant would need to strengthen the Black Stars squad with some new call-ups to ensure the nation puts up a positive display at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

Ghana will need the right set of effective players to beat off competition from Group C opponents South Africa, Senegal and Algeria at the Equatorial Guinea 2015 tournament.

“Avram Grant has got to start to shift his interest to the type of players that he is looking for to rebuild the new generation. You need to build up new players. Ghana is in a tough group,” Desailly told DailySoccerGhana.com.

Though Ghana successfully progressed to the continental championship as the top team in Group E, some pundits have argued that a number of the players invited for the AFCON 2015 qualifiers did not deserve places in the Black Stars considering their unconvincing form at club level.
