Goalkeeper Fatau Dauda says he’s looking to reclaim Ghana’s No.1 goalkeeping spot from Razak Brimah.

The Ashanti Gold man, who featured against Germany and Portugal at the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil, lost the starting spot to Brimah, who manned the post at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.

However, after leading Ashgold to claim the Ghana Premier League title, the club’s first in 19 years, the former Orlando Pirates guardian is priming himself for another huge shot.

“The number one position is no one’s permanent position [and] with hard work I can still become number one,” Dauda told Starr FM.

“If you want to be a great goalkeeper, you need to learn a lot. If you are there [as the starter], don’t think you have finished.

“As long as you are in the game, there could be mistakes or ups and downs, that is where you need to be strong.

“Now Razak is playing and we are winning.”

The 30-year-old will however face stiff competition from Portland Timbers shot-stopper Adam Kwarasey, who has announced his intention to return to the Black Stars.
