Congo names 20 players for Ghana clash

Accra, March 15, GNA - The Red Devils of Congo have named a 20-man squad for their 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ghana's Black Stars on March 27 in Brazzaville.

Head coach Camille Ngakosso unveiled his squad last Monday for the crucial Group I encounter billed for the Alphonse Massamba Debat Stadium in the Congolese capital.

Information gathered by GNA Sports indicates that the Red Devils made no major changes to their squads for their previous games with Sudan and Swaziland.

Blackburn Rovers captain Christopher Samba is the biggest name in the squad dominated by players plying their trade in minor leagues across Europe.

Also included in the squad is striker Ibara Franchel, named CAF Young Player of the Year in 2007 and now on the book of DR Congo side, AS Vita Club.

Three local-based players were named in the squad made up goalkeeper Chancel Massa (AC Leopards), midfielder Boukama Kaya (AC Leopards) and Nkolo Loris (Diables Noirs).

The Red Devils are one point adrift the Black Stars, who share top spot with the Desert Hawks of Sudan. Swaziland, the other team in the group is without a point after two games.
