Clottey sets sight on Toure partnership

Striker Emmanuel Clottey is looking forward to forming a strong partnership with Ahmed Toure at new club Kotoko.

The former Esperance frontman marked his debut in the second half of Kotoko’s barren draw with WAFA in the FCPPL last Sunday and is already relishing the opportunity to team up well with Toure to help the struggling Ghanaian champions.

“I remember three years back I was in competition with Toure and I’m glad we are in the same team now. I believe with time, we can team up and score many goals for Kotoko,” Clottey said.

“I had an injury and I’m just coming back to fitness. I like the way I played WAFA and I know in the next matches, we are going to do something,” he added.

The 27-year-old, if called upon, will be facing his former club Berekum Chelsea in a match-day 9 away clash on Wednesday. Clottey tells supersport.com he is not bothered about being thrown into an early homecoming.

“No, it is not a big deal. I know what they [Berekum Chelsea] do there [Golden city Park] and how they play. When I was coming to Kotoko, I went there and visited them in training. I know we will overcome them,” Clottey assured.

Berekum Chelsea who are in their 7th season since joining the Ghana topflight in the 2008/09 season have hosted Kotoko six times at home and even recorded two wins, drawn games and defeats.
