Clottey is not overhyped - Aboagye

Former Ghana and Al Ahly striker Felix Aboagye says Berekum Chelsea striker Emmanuel Clottey is not overhyped.

He told Takoradi-based Skyy Power that Clottey deserves every acclaim for his exploits in this year’s CAF Champions League, adding that Al Ahly head coach Hossam Al Badry’s comments about the striker were unfortunate.

‘Clottey has done very well this year and he deserves all the praise he is getting because he has scored goals in a very important competition. It is therefore unfortunate for Al Badry to say that Clottey is overhyped. Clottey needs to be encouraged.’

Aboagye also told Skyy Power that he feels Clottey has shown immense mental strength to get to the level he is now after challenges earlier on.

‘He has had to fight from his days at Olympics through to his days at Tema Youth with resulted in a ban. His stint abroad was also not successful and so for him to hit this level shows great mental strength. He has done well.’
