Chosen Grant meets Ghana FA next week

Avram Grant is scheduled to hold contract talks with the Ghana FA in Accra next week Thursday.

The Israeli must just seal financial terms to become substantive Ghana boss, which will mark a return to national team duty for him.

He will arrive in Ghana next week Wednesday. The Ghana FA last week announced the former Chelsea manager as their preferred choice from three candidates pending successful negotiations over terms of a two-year contract.

“We are expecting Avram Grant in Ghana next week. We cannot interview him this week due to the Black Stars’ preparations for the Afcon qualifiers. The meeting will be after the two matches [against Uganda and Togo],” Ghana FA spokesperson Ibrahim Sannie Daara told supersport.com.

Supersport.com understands the meeting with the Ghana FA will centre on Grant’s job requirements and conditions of service as well as financial packages that come with his new role.

It is understood the 54-year old has previously mentioned €250,000 as his signing-on fee expectation but the Ghana FA is willing to offer 60% of the demand. He could also earn as much as $50,000 [€40,000] monthly salary.

Gyan ‘Grants’ Avram arrival

Ghana skipper Asamoah Gyan has welcomed the Football Association’s decision to settle on appointing the former Chelsea trainer and is pledging the playing body’s readiness to work with him.

“He has coached one of the best teams in the World before, everybody knows him on the world scene,” the striker said.

“We just can’t wait for our first training with him. I am sure we will abide by his tactics. Everything he brings on board, we will make sure we abide by it.

“We are working for the nation and he is going to be our boss so we have to listen to him. He is going to be our coach and we welcome him to Ghana as a new coach of the Black Stars.”
