Accra, May 22, GNA 96 The Convention People=92s Party (CPP) has expressed its confidence in the senior national team, the Black Stars as the team makes its maiden appearance at the World Cup next month in Germany

The Party said despite the abysmal performance of the Black Stars at the last Cup of Nations, it is confident that the team will live up to expectation at the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

Dr Edmund N. Delle, National Chairman and Leader of CPP who said this in a statement copied to the GNA Sports noted that even though the performance made most Ghanaians to lose confidence in the team, the Party is still hopeful that the management and technical team will re-strategise and repackage the team for victory.

The CPP has therefore urged the team to be more confident and exhibit the best in themselves on the field by remaining focused, united and disciplined, since 91that is the only way victory can come the way of Ghana=92.

Dr Delle said the CPP is proud of the Stars and solidly behind the team and optimistic that the team will fly the flag of Ghana high therefore called on Ghanaians to remain focused to rally behind the team to achieve success.

The Party also called on Ghanaians to desist from reading meanings into the twenty three man squad selected for the tournament, adding that the coach should rather be given all the support and encouragement he needs to perform his duties and to succeed.

The statement added that Ghanaians who will be privileged to be in Germany to watch the tournament should conduct themselves well to avoid any form of embarrassment and disgrace to the nation.

The Party took the opportunity to thank all companies, organisations and individuals who in diverse ways have helped and continue to help the Stars in their quest to go for the ultimate.
