In Saturday’s match against Latvia, the senior national team, the Black Stars are expected to improve on their performance, "and we will pick it up from there," says Black Stars coach Milovan Rajevac.

"Whatever happens, we cannot drop our heads, we have to continue with our preparations," the Ghana coach said. “We have a tough group, a very tough group. But we have to do well and play our football.

"The most important thing is for this group of players to be healthy and ready. In Saturday’s match against Latvia, I expect us to improve and we will pick it up from there.”

The Black Stars will certainly need to heed Rajevac’s call for improvement when they come up against Latvia on Saturday at 2pm LIVE on Joy Sports and Adom TV on Multi-TV.

In all honesty they probably cannot play any worse than they did on Tuesday, certainly not against a side that has never made it to the World Cup and is currently ranked 75th in the World by FIFA.

Latvia were surprised qualifiers for Euro 2004, after coming second in their qualifying group ahead of Poland, defeating 2002 World Cup semi-finalist Turkey in a playoff to reach the final tournament.

Latvia exited Portugal 2004 with their reputation enhanced after losing narrowly to Czech Republic 1-2 and holding the highly rated Germans to a goalless draw.

The Latvians will certainly not be pushovers and will test the resolve of the Black Stars. If the football rumour mill is anything to go by, Rajevac will start the match against Latvia with the team likely to feature against Serbia on Sunday, 13th July.
