Black Stars hold first training session in Port Elizabeth

Ghana held their first training session at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth on Thursday to kick off their pre-match preparations at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Kwesi Appiah had a fully fit squad to train with the exception of striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom who continued his recovery as he did some running and stretches.

"It was a good exercise and I liked the intensity and commitment of the team. We came in today and we had to continue with our preparations," Appiah said after training.

The training, Ghana's first since arriving in the Port Elizabeth earlier in the afternoon on Thursday lasted for two hours.

The Black Stars will start their campaign on 20 January when they take on DR Congo in Group B.
