Black Starlets trainer freezes Zuga call-up

Accra, Sept. 27, GNA - Black Starlets trainer, Frimpong Manso has put ice on the invitation of Hearts of Oak's midfielder Yufa Zuga upon 'second thought.'

The midfielder was invited to beef up the Starlets team alongside 12 others in preparation for the final clash of the qualifying series of the African U-17 qualifiers against Senegal next month, but it seems the team officials have annulled his call up.

Coach Manso told GNA Sports at the team's camp at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram that the technical team has decided to shelve plans of inviting the midfielder.

Zuga has been in superb form since joining the Phobians this season from Kessben FC, but Manso said he can make do without him.

"He was recommended to us, but after critical consideration we decided to leave him out."

Currently, 34 players are in camp preparing for the tie against the Teranga Cubs slated for Accra when the Starlets host their Senegalese counterparts on the weekend of November 5-7 before traveling to Dakar for the second tie in a fortnight.

The Black Starlets eased past their Zambian counterparts 3-2 on aggregate at the previous round. Rwanda will host the final championship from January 7-22, 2011.
