Black Starlets U.K tour cancelled

The national under-17 team, the Black Starlets, Ghana has had to abandon the intended training tour of the United Kingdom.

The Starlets were hoping to leave for the United Kingdom today but that plan is off the cards after the Ghana Football authorities run into problems in the acquisition of visas.

The British High Commission has instituted a fifteen-day processing period for applicants with no European travel experience.

Fred Crentsil, chairman of the Starlets management committee, told Joy Sports that sources close to the team say the majority of the young players could not satisfy the requirement.

The team will however leave for the United States next week.

A 30-member squad would make the trip to the U.S.

The number would be pruned during the United States training tour before head coach David Duncan names his final eighteen-man team for next month?s world youth championship in Peru.

The Starlets would move to their Chiclayo base in Peru from the United States for this year?s FIFA world under-17 championship.
