Black Queens for Women?s Cup of Nations named

Officials of the national women soccer team, the Black Queens, on Tuesday released a final list of 18 players for the biennial African Women Cup of Nations slated for in Nigeria next month.

The team is dominated by players of Gala Lords, Ghatel Ladies who have eight players. The list also includes four foreign-based players- Skipper Alberta Sackey, Adjoa Bayor, Elisberth Baidoo and Mimi Osei-Agyemang.

The local players are: goalkeepers Abiba Sulemana and Fati Mohammed. Defenders, Mavis Danso, Aminatu Ibrahim, Lydia Ankrah, Regina Ansah, Patricia Ofori and Yaa Ave while the midfielders are Shiela Okine, Florence Oko, and Elisabeth Baido, Mavis Djangmah, Mamuna Darko and Hamdia Abass.

The strikers are skipper Alberta Sackey, Nana Ama Gyemfua, Adjoa Bayor and Mimi Osei Agyemang. The officials told the GNA Sports that the foreign-based players are expected to join their local counterparts later in the week before the team emplane for Nigeria on Tuesday, 3 December.
