Birmingham monitor Kingson injury

Birmingham manager Steve Bruce admitted he was concerned for Richard Kingson after the Ghana goalkeeper was taken to hospital following a nasty head injury. Kingson was stretchered off from his side's 3-0 League Cup defeat at Blackburn Rovers when he collided with a goal post contesting a corner.

After five minutes of treatment Kingson was then taken to hospital.

"It's obviously a head injury and we have got to take the necessary precautions," Bruce said.

"He is conscious and I believe he is okay in that respect, but obviously with a head injury you need to take as many precautions as possible.

"He's in the right place and while it would be wrong for me to speculate, we think he's okay.

"We don't know just yet how he is; he's gone to hospital and I would be wrong to speculate."
