Berekum Chelsea face demotion over €33,000 debt

Berekum Chelsea FC have been fined GHC2,000 for failing to comply with a decision of the Players’ Status Committee and handed a final deadline to pay the full debt of €33,000 to Pinnacle Sports Management or face demotion.

On April 7, 2016, Berekum Chelsea FC were directed by the Committee to pay the Pinnacle Sports Management the amount.

It represented 10% of the total amount paid into the Zenith Account of Pinnacle Sports Management for which FIFA directed Red Star Belgrade to pay Berekum Chelsea on the transfer fee of Lee Addy.

Berekum Chelsea FC were directed to fulfill the above mentioned payment within fourteen days as from the date of notification of the decision.

As at today, the club have failed to pay the amount.
The Ghana FA Disciplinary Committee chaired by Prosper Harrison Addo ruled:

1. That if Berekum Chelsea FC continues in their default by July 17,
2016, a one (1) year transfer ban shall automatically be placed on Berekum
Chelsea FC in addition to the sanction in Decision 3 above in accordance with Article 63(1)(c) of the Disciplinary Code of the GFA.

2. That if Berekum Chelsea FC continues in their default by August 17, 2016, Berekum Chelsea shall in addition to the sanctions in Decisions 3 and 4 above be demoted to the Division One League in accordance with Article 63(1)(c) of the Disciplinary Code of the GFA

3. That if Berekum Chelsea FC disregards any of the final deadlines stated above, the GFA and/or its bodies, such as the Premier League Board, the IT Department shall implement the sanctions threatened in Decisions 3, 4 and 5 without further recourse to any of the judicial bodies of the GFA.

4. That should any party be dissatisfied with or aggrieved by this Ruling, the party has within three (3) days of being notified of this Ruling to appeal to the Appeals Committee (See Article 37(11) of the General Regulations of the GFA).
