Basit: Chelsea will be ready for Champions' League

Abdul Basit Mohammed captain of Berekum Chelsea is confident the Ghana champions will be ready for the CAF Champions' League when they make their maiden voyage into the competition next year.

Chelsea have been drawn against Liberia champions LISCR in the preliminary tie with the first leg away on the weekend of February 17-19, 2012. The return leg is scheduled for March 4 at the Golden City Park in Berekum.

Further forward, Chelsea face a possible date against North African giants Raja Casablanca of Morocco in the next qualifying round if they advance.

Basit tells ALL SPORTS the draw was slightly fortunate for Chelsea.

"I will not say much about it because it's still far away but trust me we will be ready. I've heard that this is the first time they have won their league, just like Chelsea," the Chelsea captain told us.

He added: "We are lucky because when you meet the likes of Al Ahly, Zamalek and other big sides, you have a narrow chance of progressing. But this team, I think we have a greater chance of progressing."

On a personal level, Basit maintains that he is content with how things have gone so far in the 2011/12 Glo Ghana Premier League.

"Seriously I am enjoying myself - right from the GLO Top 8 up to now I like the way everything has gone. Even if I have not scored enough, I'm not injured and I like it," Basit confessed to ALL SPORTS.
