BYC blast 'terrible' referee for Kotoko defeat

Liberian side Barrack Young Controllers (BYC) are blaming the centre referee Ouadragou Boukari for aiding their 2-1 defeat to Asante Kotoko in Kumasi on Sunday in their CAF Champions League qualifier.

President of the club Prof Sekou Konneh believes the Burkinabe official handed his side a raw deal.

He is contesting Kotoko’s opener which was a 22nd minute penalty converted by Kwabena Adusei.

“The game was a very tight one, but officiating was terrible. The first penalty awarded to Kotoko wasn’t a penalty,” Konneh is quoted by Allsports.

“Because of this the referee failed to give the home side a clear penalty that came their way, after we had equalized.

“In fact the second penalty awarded was a clear one and Kotoko again had a third penalty but he failed to take a bold decision because the fake penalty he gave them was still haunting him.”

Barrack Young Controllers will be counting on their away goal to see if they can eliminate the two-time African champions next Sunday in Monrovia for the return leg.
