BA Utd for next round

THE irresistible best of the "Soccer Apostles", B.A United, was in full glow last Wednesday as they soaked intensive pressure on unyielding Berekum Pro Sports and subdued them 5-1 in their crucial Division One sub-middle league encounter at the Len Clay Stadium, Obuasi.

Combining rich experience, speed and accuracy, B.A United outclassed their fellow regional contenders to show them the exit.

Pro Sports, who kicked off swiftly forced the "Apostles" to concede two quick corner kicks under the first two minutes to send signals of how troublesome they could be. But those hasty efforts did nothing to the good old United as they banged in the goals at will.

In the reverse, B.A United swiftly changed game to their advantage and registered the opener in the 10th minute via Seidu Ali's left-footer.

The goal was followed by Mohammed Bawa's powerful 30-metre drive which keeper George Yakubu saved coolly.

In the 18th minute, Justice Opoku finished off for Seidu Ali, who beat an offside trap to lay a pass for the former to give B.A United a 2-0 lead.

Seven minutes inside the last half, Kwasi Boateng set up substitute Sakora Osmanu to increase the scores to 3-0 with a header.

In the 55th minute, Boateng scored the fourth goal as he connected home a long toss from the foot of skipper Alhaji Aboase.

After the goal, Pro Sports made few substitutions and managed to penetrate the ironclad defence of B.A United to redeem a goal for his side.

In the 83rd minute, a counter-break by the Berekum lads tore apart their opponents wall for substitute Peter Ebo, who came in after recess to score the face-saving goal.

However, when all seemed to favour Pro Sports, a 90th minute goal by Kwasi Boateng cut short their dreams.
