B.A United pip Berekum Berlin FC

Sunyani, (B/A) April 11, GNA - B.A. United beat visiting Berekum Berlin F/C 1-0 in their First Division 93Zone 1B" soccer league match at the Sunyani Coronation Park at the weekend. Sulley Abu scored the only goal of the match in the 28th minute. A clever cross by smallish Roger Nortey landed on the path of Sulley who easily nodded it home, leaving goalkeeper Nana Opoku of Berlin FC stranded.

B.A. United who drew one-all with league leaders, Bechem United last Wednesday at Bechem started the encounter confident of victory to maintain their second position on the league table. Unlike their match with arch rivals Bofoakwa Tano played at the same venue a week earlier, attendance at the encounter with Berlin was not that encouraging.

The poor attendance did however not dampen the spirits of the "Apostles of Power Soccer", as they performed creditably but the defence of the Berlin team, marshaled around Paa Joe kept them at bay till Sulley broke the deadlock in the 28th minute. With the victory, B.A. United have thus increased their points build-up to 19 points to place them at the second position after Bechem United who have 26 points.

In another development, B.A. Stars and Medeama F/C played a goalless drawn game on Sunday in the 23rd Week Glo Premier League competition at the same venue.
