Award winning Ghana football documentary

With the African Cup of Nations kicking off in Angola, African football has a higher profile and more global stars than at any other time in history.

But what does it takes to make the transition from a rural African field to a top European football club? If he’s good enough, how does a young African come to the attention of Real Madrid or Manchester United?

"Football Fables" is the upcoming documentary from award winning director Baffuor Akoto. Set in Ghana, "Fables" provides unprecedented insight into the inner workings of African football migration. The story unfolds through the eyes of Francis Boadi, a talented teenager working hard to secure a transfer to Europe's professional football leagues. The film also stars Sulley Muntari, Abedi Pele Ayew, Ibrahim Sunday and Ghana U20 World Cup winning coach Sellas Tetteh

Francis’ journey sheds light on the relationships between talented young players, agents, managers and bureaucrats. A combination which (in spite of itself) manages to produce some of the best players in the world.

In December, the 31st Rassegna Cinematografica Internationale film festival in Palermo, Italy presented "Football Fables" with three awards including BEST FEATURE SCREENPLAY & BEST FOREIGN FEATURE FILM.
