Atsu included in Everton’s squad for Lille trip

Ghana’s Christian Atsu has been included in the 21 players that were selected to make the trip to France for today’s Uefa Europa Cup match between Everton and Lille.

Atsu who did not make the Everton team that won 3-0 against Aston Villa over the weekend was among the players who arrived in France this afternoon.

Roberto Martinez, his coaching staff and 21 players were joined by Club officials and members of the media on a 10am flight out of Liverpool John Lennon airport on Wednesday morning.

Ross Barkley, Seamus Coleman and James McCarthy, who all missed the last Europa League away game against Krasnodar, are included in the traveling party.

However, Steven Naismith, Leon Osman, Bryan Oviedo and Arouna Kone did not board the flight.

Also missing the match are the injured Kevin Mirallas and John Stones. Atsu and the Everton squad touched down in Lille shortly after midday.

Atsu and his colleagues will then journey straight to the Stade Pierre-Mauroy for a training session ahead of tomorrow’s game.

The traveling Everton squad is: Howard, Joel, Griffiths, Coleman, Baines, Hibbert, Browning, Garbutt, Jagielka, Distin, Alcaraz, Gibson, McCarthy, Barry, Besic, Barkley, Pienaar, Atsu, McGeady, Lukaku, Eto’o.

He is expected to play a part in tomorrow’s game.
