Ashgold picks vital away points

Accra, March 19, GNA - Bottom placed Obuasi Ashgold picked three vital away points at the Ohene Djan Stadium on Thursday, when they clashed against Sporting Mirren in their 13th Week Premier League game. The Miners who have been struggling since the commencement of the League hanged on to a lone goal scored in the 10th minute of the game through Solomon Addy to ensure they carried the day. With the exception of a melee created in the half of Mirren which brought about the winning goal, both sides hardly made any significant impact in the entire duration of the game. The game was largely concentrated in midfield with occasional raids in the defence of both sides but they were unable to create any clear cut chances.

Not even the substitutions made by the two sides in the second half could change the pattern of the game. The last quarter of the game however saw the home team, Mirren make a number of serious approaches in search of the equalizer but keeper Fatau Dauda stood out with some brilliant saves, whilst Habib Mohammed, Umar Gariba and Daniel Asamoah also ensured that they provided the needed shield to protect their lone goal lead. With the away victory Ashgold have now increased their point build up to ten from 13 matches played so far. 19 March 09
