Highly rated Udinese midfielder Kojo Asamoah has attracted the attention of a number of Barclays Premier League clubs.

The 22-year-old Ghana international has impressed in Serie A this season and is widely regarded as a great prospect for the future.

SkySports.com reports that Asamoah’s agent Claudio Vagheggi claims that a number of ‘top clubs across Europe’ are monitoring his client’s progress with Manchester City and Liverpool amongst the interested parties.

"I cannot deny that there are several clubs interested," Vagheggi is quoted as saying in the Italian media.

"Manchester City? It’s true but they are not the only ones interested in Asamoah. But we have decided not to speak about Udinese’s transfer market right now because it is premature."

Eastlands boss Roberto Mancini is keen to add to his midfield options in the summer in a bid to mount a more serious challenge for the league title next season, after recently conceding that winning the title this year is out of the question.

The Citizens are preparing for tonight’s FA Cup fifth round tie against Aston Villa, with Mancini claiming that this will be City’s most realistic chance of silverware this season.

Liverpool meanwhile have been continuously linked with a whole host of names ahead of this summer’s transfer window after Anfield owners NESV splashed over £50million in January on Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez.

Reds boss Kenny Dalglish is keen to continue strengthening as he looks to mastermind a return to Liverpool’s former glories, and has the backing of Anfield Director of Football Strategy Damien Comolli to pursue his interest in Asamoah.

Having played a key part in Udinese’s success this season, the Serie A side are well placed to seal European qualification so prising Asamoah away could prove to be difficult.

Adding the fact that he is under contract until 2014, both Liverpool and Manchester City will need to be prepared to pay big money for his services, based on his current value of around £25m.
