Apraku Cries Foul

The media relations coordinator of NPP presidential aspirant, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, Mr. Joe Darko Ampem, has expressed his anger at the way their campaign posters are being destroyed.

Speaking in an interview with the ADM, Mr. Ampem said, "our posters at Circle and Legon are being replaced with other aspirants' posters Our big banners at Legon and Circle have also been cut into two".

About the posters, he said, "ours have been removed and replaced, but the banners we don't know who have been cutting them".

Mr. Ampem said they are not having problems in Accra alone. "Kumasi and other cities too we are having the same problem."

He said the Apraku campaign team would today write a protest letter to the chairman of the party, Mr. Mac Manu and the Accra Metropolitan Assembly.

"We will write to the party chairman because it is against the rules of the campaign, especially when we see some of our opponents' posters on ours and we will write to the AMA because we have paid money to seek authorization to paste our posters," he said.

Though Mr. Ampem did not name those whose posters have replaced Dr. Apraku's, he said, "There is one aspirant who seems to be heading this; we will mention the particular person in our letter to the party".

On their campaign, Mr. Ampem said, "you the media can go on and make noise about any of the aspirants, but we know what's on the ground".

He said one of the many unknown characteristics of politics is shock and "this NPP congress will reveal that".

Dr. Apraku, he said, has been touring the country since 2000, "so the delegates know who they have been with for long time and the people who have just come to them because they want power".

Mr. Ampem said Dr. Apraku is now on the third tour of the constituencies.

"We hope to complete our tour by the end of the week and begin what we call consolidation tour."

The consolidation tour, he said, "is for us to tour the regions that we know we have the majority of our voters."
