Appiah's return excites Rajevac

Accra, Sept 11, GNA - Ghana's trainer, Milovan Rajevac is excited with the prospect of having captain Stephen Appiah back to his peak. Appiah made a return to the Black Stars for the first time in almost a year and coach Milovan told GNA Sports glimpses of the skipper's previous form was telling in the game that Ghana lost 0-1 to the Greens of Libya.

"He is a great player, showed class and proved that he is a real leader."

The former Fenerbahce icon replaced injured Michael Essien in the first half and exhibited traits of his potential despite the long lay-off.

Coach Milovan told GNA Sports Appiah excelled in his midfield duties and was optimistic that the best of the skipper is on its way. "He will need about a month of activeness to peak." The Serbian was convinced the club-less midfielder would soon find a Club with his recovery and output.

Milovan also singled out Kaiser Chiefs' central defender, Jonathan Quartey for glittering in his first competitive outing for the Stars.

"He took his chance very well and did much better than most of the big players."

The coach would however not make a hasty conclusion about player's prospect of a permanent first team place when quizzed about the future of Quartey who stepped-in for injured John Mensah.
