Dr. Kofi Amoah Confirms Keynote Presentation at African Football Executive Summit

The organizers of the African Football Executive Summit 2011 which begins in Accra, Ghana from May 26-27, 2011 are elevated by the confirmation that Dr. Kofi Amoah, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the 2008 African Cup of Nations Football Tournament in Ghana, will deliver a keynote presentation at event.

Amoah, credited with one of the most successfully organized football tournaments in Africa would speak on the topic “The Business of African Football -Needed Reforms and the Way Forward!”

As Chairman of ACN2008 Ghana, he also led the team that upgraded and constructed 4 stadia, training pitches and roads with state funds to meet FIFA standards, encouraged the private sector to invest in new hotels, and other support facilities that energized and increased participation/patronage. He also played a lead role in mobilizing the Ghanaian people to unite and celebrate with oneness the enthusiasm, admiration, and the excitement embedded in African football as viewed in the continent, and through global lenses.

CAF judged CAN2008 the best tournament ever, and that feat is associated with Dr. Amoah.

Dr Amoah was also a member of the Ghana Football Administration (GFA) Committee that engineered the 'first' ever appearance of the Ghana Black Stars at a World Cup (Germany 2006), as well as the first multi-million dollar sponsorship package for the national men’s football team that significantly boosted performance, and cohesion at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. He is a member of the Cup of Nations Organizing Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and has been a fierce and consistent advocate with the conviction that Ghana or an African country can win the World Cup through proper planning, adequate investment and focus.

Dr. Kofi Amoah is an accomplished entrepreneur who has founded and developed several companies in the hospitality and commercial real estate industry. His flagship company, Progeny Ventures International, pioneered money transfer business in partnership with Western Union on the African continent, and is now responsible for billions of dollars transferred to Africa each year from abroad. His participation is a major impetus for the Accra Summit.

“This is an interesting development and a real booster as the summit date gears closer. Dr. Amoah has a vast experience in efficient administration, business, and African football development. We believe his experience would offer some useful benchmarks for reviving football on the African continent through business-driven models, branding, marketing, and strategic leadership”, according to Edward Kwame Abankwa, a lead facilitator of the summit.
